First-Ever Cybersecurity Tech Camp Concludes in Chiang Mai, Empowering Northern Thailand’s Next Generation of Tech Leaders
(December 14, 2025) Chiang Mai, Thailand – The U.S. Consulate General Chiang Mai, in partnership with Movaci and the Science and Technology Park at Chiang Mai University, has successfully concluded its first-ever three-day Cybersecurity Tech Camp. This groundbreaking event brought together thirty outstanding students from six leading universities and technical colleges across northern Thailand to tackle real-world cybersecurity challenges and develop innovative solutions for safer business practices in the digital age.
Throughout the Tech Camp, students specializing in computer science, cybersecurity, and engineering formed six teams of five, with each group representing their university. They engaged in hands-on workshops, expert-led presentations, and a live cybersecurity attack simulation. The program featured speakers and mentors from the private sector, academia, and the U.S. government.
The six participating universities were Chiang Mai University, Payap University, Majo University, Mae Fah Luang University, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, and North Chiang Mai University.
The highlight of the Tech Camp was the final pitch competition, during which each team presented its solution to real-world cybersecurity threats they had identified during the course of the program. Each member of the first prize-winning team was awarded a five-week internship with stipend at Movaci. The second prizewinning team received vouchers for the Ethical Hacking Professional Certification (CEPC™). All participants received discounted ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) training and exam vouchers, further supporting their professional development.
“The skills and knowledge students gained from this Tech Camp will not only help protect local communities, but will also contribute to a safer, more secure, and more prosperous world. By building bridges between the United States and Thailand, academia and industry, and today’s leaders and tomorrow’s innovators, we are strengthening global cybersecurity and creating new opportunities for both Thai and American businesses and citizens,” said U.S. Consul General Kelia Cummins.

The U.S. Consulate General Chiang Mai, Movaci, and the Science and Technology Park at Chiang Mai University congratulate all participants on their achievements and look forward to continued collaboration between the United States and Thailand to advance cybersecurity and innovation.
