Chiang Mai Municipality and Partners Ready to Host “Chiang Mai Songkran Festival 2026” from 6 to 17 April 2026
Mr. Assanee Buranupakorn, Mayor of Chiang Mai, officially announced the city’s readiness to host the “Pee Mai Muane Chiang Mai Festival 2026” (Chiang Mai Songkran Festival). The press conference was attended by municipal executives, heads of provincial government agencies, municipal officials, members of the public, and tourists at Building 5, Chiang Mai Municipality Office.
The Mayor of Chiang Mai stated that the municipality warmly invites both Thai and international visitors to experience the “Pee Mai Muane Chiang Mai Festival 2026 under the concept “Joyful Journeys, Fun Splashes, Endless Happiness: Pee Mai Muang 2026″, taking place from 6 to 17 April 2026. The event aims to promote beautiful local traditions rich in cultural charm. This year is particularly significant as it Coincides with the 730” anniversary of Chiang Mai, and the festival is regarded as a key Soft Power event that attracts large numbers of tourists to Chiang Mai and Thailand each year.
Chiang Mai Municipality is committed to preserving Lanna arts, culture, and traditions through a variety of festival activities. while also promoting the local economy and tourism. Visitors will be able to enjoy many highlights, including the procession of the Phra Buddha Sihing and other revered Buddha images, as well as a variety of cultural activities. The festival also offers a distinctive cultural atmosphere with a contemporary touch, featuring activities such as traditional dance performances and open-air film screenings. Additionally, visitors can enjoy traditional Songkran water celebrations and water tunnel activities at Tha Phae Gate.
