“Year of the Auspicious Horse” Celebrated in Grand Style at Central Chiangmai Airport
Central Chiangmai Airport marked the arrival of the auspicious Year of the Horse with a spectacular celebration, The Great Chinese New Year 2026, under the inspiring theme “Ride the Blooming Future.” The event brought vibrant energy and prosperity to Chiang Mai, blending cultural heritage with contemporary creativity.
A highlight of the celebration was the dazzling “Ride the Blooming Fashion Show”, staged on an enchanting runway set amidst a celestial garden ambiance and eight majestic auspicious horses. The festivities were further elevated by an impressive LED Silver and Golden Dragon performance, alongside seven exclusive shows by one of Thailand’s most renowned national dragon dance troupes.
The event was jointly presided over by Mr. Sira Santitranon, General Manager of Central Chiangmai Airport; Mr. Weerachote Thiravayamakul, Northern Marketing Director of Central Pattana; H.E. Gu Jing Jing, Consul of the People’s Republic of China in Chiang Mai; Ms. Yaowalak Wongpraparat, Project Director of Chiangmai City Craft Space; Mr. Karnjit Nattriphop, Founder of WASOO; Dr. Adisorn Suddee, Director of the Miss Chiang Mai Pageant and Chairman of the M Group; and Ms. Li Ailun, Assistant Director of the Confucius Institute at Chiang Mai University.
Visitors were invited to experience a range of festive attractions, including the stunning “Auspicious Horse Garden” landmark—featuring over-two-metre-tall horses adorned with blooming flowers symbolizing hope and future success. This creative installation was a collaboration between Central Chiangmai Airport, Chiangmai City Craft Space, and WASOO.
Adding to the celebratory spirit were appearances by the charming horses “Menthol” and “Champagne” from PHP Pong Horse Park, offering blessings for prosperity in the Year of the Horse. Guests also enjoyed traditional Chinese cultural performances, a 12 Zodiac coin-making workshop, and a vibrant green market showcasing auspicious foods, lucky charms, and festive treats from popular local vendors across Chiang Mai.
“The Year of the Auspicious Horse” celebration at Central Chiangmai Airport runs from 10 February to 1 March 2026, promising a season filled with prosperity, creativity, and cultural splendor.
