Central Chiangmai Unveils “THE GREAT CHINESE NEW YEAR 2026 – Gallop of Fortune,” Northern Thailand’s Grandest Lunar New Year Landmark
Chiang Mai – Central Chiangmai (Central Festival Chiangmai) welcomes the Year of the Horse with the launch of its spectacular campaign, “THE GREAT CHINESE NEW YEAR 2026 – Ma-Mia Heng Heng.”
Held under the concepts “GALLOP OF FORTUNE – The Auspicious Power of the Horse” and “The Journey to Prosperity,” the celebration highlights the horse as a symbol of strength, auspiciousness, and prosperity. Reinforcing its position as the largest Chinese New Year landmark in Northern Thailand, the center offers a complete festive experience—shop, pay respects, dine, and celebrate—all in one destination.
Grand Cultural Showcase on 16 February 2026
On 16 February 2026, the outdoor activity plaza in front of the shopping center transformed into a vibrant stage for an extraordinary lineup of Chinese cultural performances. Highlights included golden and silver lion and dragon dances, an LED dragon parade, face-changing Sichuan opera with fire effects, nine auspicious drums accompanied by nine lions in nine colors, ribbon dragon performances, and a high-pole lion dance with fiery hoops by the Golden Dragon Phichit Troupe, disciples of Chao Pho Pun Tao Kong and Chao Pho Luang Kong.
The performances captivated large crowds of both Thai and international visitors.
The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests including Ms. Kanyapak Posirin, General Manager of Central Chiangmai; Mr. Ittirath Sinarak, Chiang Mai Provincial Tourism and Sports Officer; Mr. Weerachote Thirawayamkul, Northern Region Marketing Director of Central Pattana Public Company Limited; Mr. Prokrist Saihasadee, Vice Chairman of the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Waraphan Pohhiran, Committee Member of the Chiang Mai Tourism Industry Council; and Ms. Chanatcha Phakakat, Branch Manager of Central Festival Chiangmai Department Store, along with other esteemed guests who joined in sharing festive blessings and prosperity with visitors.
“Chiangmai China Town Market” and Sacred Blessings
From 13–22 February 2026, the “Chiangmai China Town Market” at the G Floor features over 200 auspicious dishes from renowned eateries across Chiang Mai. A key attraction is the “Blossom of Fortune Tower” by Khun Tung Kritpong Jamchan. Visitors may also pay respects to Guan Yu, the revered deity of loyalty and righteousness, specially invited from the Guan Yu Shrine (Bu Bia), Chiang Mai.
