Chansom Memorial Foot Bridge

January 15

Ambassador of India H.E. Mr Nagesh Singh, accompanied by Consul Krishna Chaitanya, and Advisor, India Studies Centre Mr Ranjeet Singh visited Chansom Memorial Foot Bridge in Chiang Mai. Originally built by prominent Indian businessman Mr Moti Ram Khurana @ Montri Koslaphirom in 1966 – mostly from his own resources with some contributions from a few others in the Indian community – to enable people to cross over river Ping and go to the Gurudwara Singh Sabha to offer prayers, the bridge was renovated in 2016 by the Municipality, and is probably the only public place in Thailand which has a signboard in Punjabi language.
