Festival Overview
ALaLa Dance Fest returns in 2025 under the theme “Tattoo Movement.”
This international contemporary performing arts festival creates a platform for artists from diverse countries to meet, exchange, and co-create works. Rooted in ethnic traditions yet infused with contemporary expression, the festival unfolds through live performances, creative workshops, and an exhibition that offers fresh perspectives for audiences.
The festival will take place from 10-13 October 2025 at Kalm Village, Chiang Mai. Its aims are to promote international exchange in ethnic performing arts, revitalize and extend the heritage of Lanna culture, connect local and international artists, and open an inclusive learning space for audiences and the wider public.

The ALaLa Dance Fest 2025 will be held under the theme “Tattoo Movement” at Kalm Village, Chiang Mai from 10-13 October 2025. Located in the heart of the city, the venue embodies an atmosphere rich with contemporary art and cultural heritage.
The festival program features: International dance performances showcasing both new perspectives and deep cultural roots. Creative workshops led by artists from across the globe, offering participants hands-on learning. Tattoo Movement Exhibition, open daily from 10:00-18:00 hrs., exploring tattoos as cultural and contemporary expressions.

This exhibition explores the stories of tattoos in Lanna and across Southeast Asia.
It reflects deep cultural roots and contemporary inspirations, while also providing creative activity spaces for audiences to engage directly. Tattoos are presented as living symbols of belief, tradition, and evolving identity.
