AirAsia Year-End Journeys
From just 999 baht one day with the new Chiang Mai–Udoni Than route launching 1st December
CityNews—AirAsia is inviting Chiang Mai residents to enjoy the festive travel season with unbeatable fares starting from just 999 baht one-way, offering the widest selection of 13 domestic and international routes from the city. The airline’s newest cross-regional service, Chiang Mai–Udon Thani, will operate four times weekly — every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday — starting 1st December 2025. Bookings are available from now until 30th November 2025, for travel from 1st December 2025 to 28th March 2026.
Flights will be operated using AirAsia’s 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
Santisuk Klongchaiya, Chief Executive Officer of Thai AirAsia, said the airline is entering its 22nd year of serving the Chiang Mai community, with five aircraft stationed at its Chiang Mai hub and dedicated staff across departments — most of whom are locals. “We are proud to be part of connecting Chiang Mai, a beloved destination with warm and welcoming people, to key regions across Thailand and abroad. Our direct international routes continue to support the inflow of diverse visitors into Northern Thailand,” he said.
“Chiang Mai remains one of the most sought-after destinations, especially during the year-end period. We continue to increase flight frequencies and expand routes at our Chiang Mai hub, including direct flights to Bangkok from both Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports. Our Fifth Freedom route from Chiang Mai, with a stopover in Taipei before continuing to Sapporo, offers travellers greater convenience while opening opportunities to capture new tourism markets,” Santisuk added.
Suraphan Homkajon, AirAsia’s Station Manager at Chiang Mai International Airport, noted that AirAsia holds the largest market share of approximately 36% among all airlines operating to and from Chiang Mai. The airline also offers the greatest number of domestic and international routes, totalling 13 destinations. These include nine domestic routes covering all regions — Bangkok (Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi), Krabi, Phuket, Hua Hin, Hat Yai, Surat Thani, Khon Kaen, and the upcoming Chiang Mai–Udon Thani service launching 1st December.
AirAsia also operates four international routes from Chiang Mai — to Hanoi, Taipei, Sapporo (Fifth Freedom), and Malaysia (AK flights) — with a total of 38 direct flights per day departing from the Chiang Mai hub.
