Surely one of the most spectacular restaurant setting in our fair city. Anantara Chiang Mai Resort,  The Service 1921 Restaurant & Bar, home of past British Consuls – unsurprisingly built in 1921 – is also a multiple award gastronomic destination. Sit by the Ping in the old colonial style teak house and indulge in fabulous cocktails and cuisines. Executive Sous Chef Songpol Ponkaew picked rice berry in this month’s Spoon&Fork’s chef’s challenge and has decided to turn this healthy ingredient into a sweet cool delight. Blending together coconut milk, cream, milk, sugar and riceberry, he then turned the mixture into an ice cream, adding liquid nitrogen to speed up the process. After 5-10 minutes he serves the chilled ice cream with fresh mango, making for a refreshing and very tasty bite, perfect for our tropical climates. You will soon be able to sample this healthy riceberry ice cream as you sit on the deck overlooking the meaning river. Honorary consuls of yore would surely have loved to have had a big bowl of this on a hot day! (With their gin and tonics, of course!)
