CityNews – On 27th January at the weekly press conference in Chiang Mai Town Hall, Suchart Jaipakdee, the Director of Election in Chiang Mai, reported back from the pre-election in Chiang Mai on Sunday, 26th January.

Suchart said that altogether there were 5,708 people who turned up for the pre-election and that everything went well.
However, on the pre-election day, 26th January, CM108 reported that a suspicious object was found on Chiang Mai – Doi Saket Road, 500 meters from Central Festival. Police had to clear up the area and sent the explosive ordnance disposal unit in.
The object was described as a one-foot long dynamite wrapped in copper wire. It was found later that it was just a type of firecracker. It was assumed that someone just wanted to disturb the pre-election.
