The seminar took place on March 5th and 6th with business owners from 14 Northern provinces in attendance. The second seminar will be at Charern Thani Hotel in Khon Kaen on March 19th and 20th for businesses in 21 Isaan provinces. The national seminar will happen in August.

Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), Ministry of Science and Technology, visited the North with aims to educate business owners with radiation material permits. They gave lectures on radiation control management and also handling and disposal of radioactive waste with public safety in mind.

Supan Sangthong, OAP secretary, said that Thailand is utilizing more nuclear power sources and radioactive materials in fields like medical, industrial, education, and agriculture. This increasing in use results in more radioactive waste and accidents. According to OAP’s survey from licensed radioactive material owners, some of the waste can still be repurposes or reused. Supan asked those in possession of radioactive material to take responsibility and to strictly follow OAP’s rules and regulations.
