Suthep Fire Contained, Now Hunt Begins for Source

CityNews – Police are investigating the recent fire on Doi Suthep and ask all citizens with any information to come forward.

The massive fire which engulfed swathes of the mountain on May 8th which ended in the early hours of May 9th is reported to have damaged 290 rai of land as well as having killed much wildlife.

Nuenghathai Tantiplabtong, Director of the Northern Royal Rainmaking Centre viewed the area yesterday in a helicopter and reported that there were still small fires and smouldering areas, but that the area was now contained.

At this point it is believed that an individual, or many individuals, lit four fire spots because while fire fighters were containing what they thought was the fire, three more spots had erupted and spread. Authorities are patrolling the area heavily.
