CityNews – Chiang Mai residents were angry and distraught after an ?official signed paper from the mayor? gave workers the go-ahead to chop down a large tree nearby the Tessabahn municipality.

Supposedly, the tree in question was situated near a spirit house and an important part of the community. Neighbours from a Ratchamanka community group said they did not order the tree to be cut down, and were therefore appalled when workers suddenly showed up with ?official papers? and cut the tree down anyway.
Tearful neighbours complained that the ?Tessabahn has nothing better to do than destroy trees,? and are left to mourn what?s left of the tree ? branches, leaves and one sad, little stump.
