Polytechnic Students Vigilant Against Narcotics of International Day Against Drug Abuse

CityNews – On 12th June at Lanna Polytechnic Technology College, Ritthipong Techapan, the deputy governor of Chiang Mai, opened proceedings for the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event was hosted by Thailand’s National Command Centre for Drugs Elimination, the Region 5 Police and Chiang Mai’s Primary Educational Service.

With over 1,000 students from schools in Chiang Mai in attendance, the events included many activities such as student performances, an anti-drugs Boy Scout parade, drawing and football competitions, music contests and a certification ceremony in which students were rewarded for their vigilance against narcotics.

The UN has announced that annually on 26th June, the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking will take place throughout the world. Member countries will host activities regarding drug use prevention, and the day seeks also to build awareness about the dangers of drug use.
