CityNews – Concerns about safety during the festive Yee Peng Festival has led Chiang Mai Police to do routine checks around town. They are seeking shopkeepers and individual sellers who might have dangerous fireworks or giant firecrackers in stock, but so far no one has come up in their search.
According to this year’s Yee Peng theme of “No Firecrackers & No Alcohol”, everyone is expected to adhere to the rule in order to prevent accidents from explosions or vehicle crashes. Police will continue to patrol and be on the watch for any unsafe or illegal activity during the festival.
