No More Overcharging at Hostess Karaoke Bars says Governor

CityNews – Chiang Mai Governor, Thanin Suphasaen, told the Chiang Mai on September 23rd that new measures would be taken to stop overcharging at karaoke bars in Chiang Mai.

It was discussed that many bars, including Aii Karaoke, Violin Karaoke, Bunny Girl, Pink Lady, Casanova Karaoke, Rose, and Cleo, would be regularly checked by police. These seven karaoke shops will also be taking part in a trial with The Revenue Department for tax and accounting issues. The related departments will now report to Chiang Mai City Office monthly, starting 30th September.


Many tourists, as well as expats and locals, have complained in the past of being overcharged in karaoke bars. If the bill is not paid the person run the risk of being beaten up, such as in this case.
