New Loy Krathong Normal

Tourism Authority of Thailand, Chiang Mai, along with the municipality and some other organisations have announced that the Loy Krathong (Yee Peng) festival will be held on the 31st October and 1st November this year, and ask the public to take all social distancing and safety precautions.

This year’s event will see many cultural activities, especially around the moat and other major attractions within the city. There will be flag making demonstrations, many sala set up showing local traditions and crafts, a Miss and Mr Yee Peng competition and a lantern competition.

Instead of the annual parade, there will be seven large krathong checkpoints at: Tha Pae Gate, Three Kings Monument, Chang Phuak, Suan Dok, Chiang Mai gates, Som Petch Market and in front of the Chiang Mai Municipality, all of which will have activities between 6pm and 11pm nightly.
