CityNews – Chiang Mai Zoo fans are heartbroken today following the news of the death of the mother deer and her unborn baby last evening, 9th September.
Following CityNew’s story yesterday Good Samaritans Save Pregnant Deer, fans of the zoo have been sending messages of well wishes and social media has been busy with people rooting for the deer’s survival.
Discovered by villagers in Chiang Rai’s Wieng Pa Pao District, the heavily pregnant deer had been viciously attacked by dogs when discovered at the outskirts of the village. Villagers, out of compassion, turned down an offer of 16,000 baht from a merchant wishing to buy the deer and after failing to nurse her into health, contacted the vets at the Chiang Mai Zoo who have spent the last few days trying to save her life and that of her unborn fawn.
She died from poisoning from her numerous injuries.
