Monkeys spotted on Doi Suthep

 | Mon 16 Nov 2020 20:00 ICT

Chiang Mai resident Kristian Ole Rørbye spotted some monkeys on the road up Doi Suthep yesterday morning, the first sighting that we know of for some years.

In 2006 Citylife published an in depth investigative report about the health of Doi Suthep, sadly revealing that our mountain range is dangerously unhealthy in many ways. One expert told us that there was only one monkey family remaining on the Suthep-Pui mountain range, and that it is rare indeed to spot them.

And yet here we are, 2020, and it looks like the family are still around…or perhaps even, fingers crossed, grown?
