CityNews – On 22nd January 2020, Chom Thong police were alerted to a minivan which had plunged off a steep incline after veering off the road as they were driving down from Doi Inthanon.

The mini van was from Khon Kaen province and had 11 passengers including the driver. Upon arrival, police saw that the van had crashed over 10 metres down a ravine, but while there were some injuries, no one suffered from serious harm.

The ten passengers were all elderly and were travelling to the area to donate goods to the poor children. The driver was going round a corner and his brakes failed to function properly.

Authorities ask the public to please check their vehicles before going up the mountains and that if a driver wasn’t accustomed to driving along mountainous roads, as it appeared this driver wasn’t, then please use another driver.
