Singh Kaew Saleewongse, head of construction for the Mae Kuang intersection underpass (where highway 118 Chiang Mai – Doi Saket Intersects with the 121), said that the construction is now complete and he will need only 2-3 more days to add finishing touches before the underpass will open.

He also said that there are currently seven projects budgeted at 4.447 billion baht which have been approved including the 616 million expansion into four lanes from two along the Ton Ton Pao-Don Kaew Road which will include a figure eight roundabout and overpass. This will help alleviate traffic of 30,300 vehicles per day. This intersection is connected to the highway 118 Chiang Mai-Doi Nang Kaew which then connects to Chiang Rai and Phayao, seeing over 70,000 vehicles per day. As this route will continue to see heavy cargo arriving from China, it is a priority.
