Loy Krathong Accidents So Far

CityNews – On 17th November Chiang Mai Governor Wichian Puttiwinyu and Red Cross staff visited people at Nakorn Ping Hospital. So far there have been three people admitted to the hospital suffering from injuries caused by firecrackers over the Loy Krathong period.

The first victim is an 11 year old boy from Mae Rim who has lost his finger from a firecracker explosion. The second one is a 12 year old boy who has suffered a serious injury from a firecracker that hit the back of his head. The most recent victim is a 41 year old man who has lost three fingers, also from a firecracker explosion.

Chiang Mai Public Health announced that from the 14th – 16th November alone there have been 24 serious injuries from firecrackers and 32 road accident victims. The governor asked the public to be more responsible, parents to properly monitor their children, and warned shopkeepers to only sell legal fireworks.
