CityNews – CrossFit Chiang Mai, Thailand’s oldest and Chiang Mai’s only CrossFit affiliate, is hosting the 2014 CrossFit Open — a competition to see who the fittest person is in the world.
The CrossFit Open is a five week global fitness competition, with the winners in Asia invited to the CrossFit Regionals in Korea. The winners in the Regionals advance to the CrossFit Games in California, with a cash prize for the top man and woman of over $250,000. There are also weekly prizes for top finishers and prizes for the winners of the Regionals.
Starting at 11 a.m. on March 1, and every Saturday after that for 5 weeks, CrossFit Chiang Mai will be hosting the Open competition. As Chiang Mai’s only affiliate, we will be able to judge and validate scores for the competition.
We are also having our free “Friends and Family” workout for the first Saturday of the month at 10 to 11, so if you want to get a chance to tryout CrossFit, come at 10 and stay to cheer on the competitors in the Open. The Open will be followed by a BBQ and potluck, so it will be a great day of fun, including CrossFit Kids at 12:30.
