Gambling Addict Mum Caught as University Robber

CityNews – A thief who robbed Chiang Mai Rajabhat University is a gamble addict.

Following the robbery case on March 9th at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, police announced on March 25th that the suspect has been arrested in Nakorn Pathom. Am Masing, 32, the suspect confessed that she went to survey the area around 5pm that day before the robbery. She then broke in around 9pm when there are less people. She reportedly used a hammer to break the window bar and fled the scene before near dawn.

This is not her first robbery. Police revealed that she has committed such crimes over 50 times in the past five years at various universities including in Chiang Rai, Phayao and Lampang. Prior to this case, police had received a report on a similar case at Chiang Mai University on March 7th and Maejo University on March 8th. She reportedly targeted universities due to their lax security, when compared to schools. The motive is that she is raising two children while also having an issue with gambling. Overall, she has stolen around 2 million baht.
