Former local Chiang Rai official arrested after police discover 600,000 yaba pills

CityNews – A former member of the Tambon Khirirat Administrative Organization of Tak Province was arrested yesterday for taking part in a major drugs operation in Chiang Rai which led police to discover over 600,000 amphetamine pills.

Chiang Rai Police, anti-narcotics police and Immigration officials, yesterday intercepted a drugs caravan on the Phaholyothin Road in Chiang Rai after having been alerted by a tip off. Four suspects were arrested in three cars. The drugs were discovered packed into rice sacks hidden in the cars.

Among the culprits was Hmong tribesman Mr. Lee Saema, also an ex local administration official from the Tak province.

The suspects have confessed already that they obtained the pills from Mae Suai district and were planning to deliver them to Bangkok for a million baht payout.
