On 15th May, the Mayor, his staff and the media visited the construction site, initiated following the collapse of the bridge foundation in October 2011. The total cost of reconstruction is estimated to be 8,730,000 baht and will include making a pretty grass knoll at each foot of the bridge. The mayor promises to make this bridge a beautiful Lanna style bridge which will become a tourist attraction and will be safe for visitors and locals to cross the river from Wat Gate to the market.

The mayor says that the bridge will be complete by Loy Krathong at the latest. He also warns that there may be some lane closure on the main roads flanking the bridge due to the construction.
