CityNews – 25th November 2019, at Department of Special Investigation (DSI) operation centre region 5, people who were lured to invest in foreign currency exchange trading (FOREX 3D) came to report their cases as these were regarded as special case of investigation No. 153/2562.

There were around 10,049 victims nationwide registering their cases with DSI, with total loss of around 1.368 billion baht.  In northern Thailand, over 1,464 victims registered their cases, each case lost around 10,000 to 100,000 baht.  The victims will be requested to give further information (around 40 cases per day since there were limited officers.)  It is expected that for a while, all necessary information can be submitted to DSI main office to proceed on civil law prosecution.

Anucha Bunrueang, 24 years old, one of the victims would like to warn any investor about any offer that promises to give unusual amounts of return.  Fraudulent groups just keep changing their style of offerings in different channels and formats.

DSI has opened their desks for FOREX cases in 10 centres throughout the country from Monday 25th to Wednesday 27th November 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.  Victims have to bring copies of their ID cards, pertinent documents, transfer statements or slips proving that they had invested and related active bank accounts.

To meet an officer of DSI, one needs to register and provide necessary information and make an appointment for a convenient time via QR code.  People who fell victim of such fraud can follow up the investigation via www.dsi.go.th or Facebook DSI (www.facebook.com/DSI2002/).
