CityNews—The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has announced a drought in the following 34 provinces:

Isaan Provinces: Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Buriram, Sisaket, Chaiyaphum, Kalasin, Nong Bua Lamphu, and Surin.

Central Provinces: Sing Buri, Saraburi, Chainat, and Samut Prakan.

Northern Provinces: Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phrae, Tak, Nan, Phayao, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, Phichit, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, and Chiang Rai.

Eastern Provinces: Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, and Prachinburi

Southern Provinces: Trang, Satun, Krabi, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Chumphon

The drought has reportedly been caused by low pressure, which caused intensely high temperatures in northern, Isaan and upper central provinces.

However some areas of Thailand will be experiencing heavy amounts of rain, caused by high pressure from the South China Sea. Tropical thunderstorms will be occurring in Isaan and Eastern provinces from April 2nd until April 4th.

The DDPM asked nine of their regional offices, which are responsible for 37 provinces, to be on alert for floods, strong wind gusts, heavy thunderstorms and possible hail storms.
