CityNews – A big cleaning day after the recent loy krathong festival.
Over a tonne of krathongs from the festival have been stuck at the Ping River’s watergate in Pa Daed, according to a report on November 5th. The festival’s waste is scheduled for collection and clean up on the 7th of this month under the supervision of the Regional Irrigation Office 1 in collaboration with Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Chiang Mai Provincial Office, military officers and local authorities. The degradable waste will be separated and collected by Chiang Mai municipality to make fertiliser.
On the other hand, over a hundred lanterns have been collected from the Chiang Mai International Airport’s runway. There have been no reports of any incidents or damages caused by the lanterns.
