CityNews – A Chiang Mai woman recently cut a traffic police wheel lock from her bike, and then called the policeman who locked her bike to taunt and insult him. Chiang Mai PD later tracked her down and made her apologise.

Pol.Maj. Yuttakarn Meta, Chiang Mai Police Inspector, arrested ‘May’ on May 17th for cutting the traffic police lock off her motorbike wheel on May 6th. May’s motorbike (without a license plate) was illegally parked on Phra Pok Klao Road. The policeman who locked the bike left a citation ticket with instructions on how to pay the fine; he also left his phone number. He received an insulting call from her and her boyfriend telling him that the traffic police would never find the motorbike. The call was made from a phone with a prepaid SIM card.

The traffic official then informed Chiang Mai PD investigation unit. They tracked down May (28) and took her to the police station. She was charged with damaging and stealing government property.

May apologised to the traffic police officer. She told reporters that it was a silly mistake driven by her anger. Pol.Maj. Yuttakarn stressed that there are many cases of people cutting the locks, both on cars and motorcycles. He asked traffic violators not to damage government property and to pay fines.
