CityNews – Many people in Chiang Mai woke early this morning to enjoy the partial solar eclipse only to find the smog blocking almost the entire view.

People gathered around the city, including the roof of Central Festival, where the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) had set up an observation deck.

During the partial eclipse, smoke clouds blocked a clear view for over 15 minutes.

According to reports, people in Chiang Mai were only able to see around 27% of the eclipse clearly during times the smog dispersed.
