CityNews – On 7th August 2013 at Charoen Hotel, Udonthani, Chiang Mai Governor Tadsanai Buranupakorn, representing Chiang Mai Municipality, received a 6-star award for supporting locals in garbage management for 2013 (confirmed by the Pollution Control Department).This was the second time Chiang Mai won the award (the first time was in 2012).
Chiang Mai Municipality joined the Pollution Control Department campaign in 2008 following six policies including the following: (1) garbage management plan; (2) local hazardous waste and garbage usage reduction and separation; (3) garbage collection efficiency; (4) centralised management of local garbage and infectious waste; (5) garbage disposal efficiency; and (6) income from garbage disposal.
