69 year old mushroom hunter bitten by pit viper

A 69 year old woman, whose name has not been released, was rushed to hospital today after being bitten by a snake.

According to police, a woman with the nickname of Kaew, from Don Kaew, was searching for mushrooms around the back of Huay Tung Tao reservoir this morning when she was bitten on the hand.

She had the presence of mind to kill the snake and put it in a bag, then called for help. She was in a heavily forested area, but rescue workers made it to her and took her to hospital in good time.

Doctors say that she was bitten by a Malayan ground pit viper which is highly venomous.
