The committee agrees to meet every Wednesday at 2:00pm to plan to raise awareness and readiness in each amphur. The plan includes water reservoir conservation, reducing fuel consumption, organic compose production, and plant grafting nurseries.

The current Chiang Mai air quality measurement during 1-10 February found particles smaller than 10 microns (PM 10) showing 24-hour average at 18-43 micrograms per cubic metre meaning the air quality is moderate to good. The Response Center recieved 18 calls concerning wildfires, with 195 rai of forest dammaged. They found 50 hotspots with amphur Doi Tao being the most high-risk, followed by amphur Hod, Mae Jam, Jom Thong and Om Koi.

“This year’s wildfire situation is relatively better than this same time last year. Late February to March weather forecast shows rainfall which will reduce the air pollution level. As for the high-risk spots, they are in 17 tambon, and 9 of those are in amphur Mae Jam and 8 in amphur Omkoi. We are mobilizing officers to wildfire control stations in the Royal Development Project area and Omkoi Wildfire Prevention Center. Our objective is to eliminate 10% of the hotspots,” said Prayat.
