CityNews – Chiang Mai municipality is cleaning the moat for in preparation for Songkran.
On March 29th the mayor of Chiang Mai Municipality, Tassanai Buranupakorn, revealed that in preparation for the upcoming Songkran festival, the city is working with the irrigation office to supervise the water quality of the moat.
The authorities have been improving the water quality in many ways including water diversion through Chang Hua Lin, increasing the oxygen in the water using a fountain and water pump, adding chlorine and planting water hyacinth and lotuses. The authorities will be examining the water again on April 5th.
The official dates for Songkran this year have been extended to five days, April 12th and 16th.
