YBL Thailand (Youth Baller League Thailand) has announced the expansion of its youth basketball league into Northern Thailand with the launch of the YBL Thailand Series 1 Northern Conference 2027, offering young athletes the opportunity to develop their skills and compete for a place in the national championship.
The initiative aims to provide young basketball players across the northern region with a structured and competitive environment in which to develop their sporting abilities, discipline, responsibility and teamwork, while gaining valuable experience through regular league competition.
The Northern Conference forms part of YBL Thailand’s nationwide youth basketball development programme, which connects four regional conferences: Bangkok, Northern Thailand, Southern Thailand and Eastern Thailand.
Selected athletes will participate in organised training sessions and league competitions over a season lasting approximately three to four months. Outstanding teams and players will have the opportunity to progress to the YBL Thailand National Championship, scheduled for late April 2027.
Three Age Divisions Open for Registration
YBL Thailand is currently accepting applications from male basketball players in three age categories:
– Junior Varsity: Under 10–Under 12 (U10–U12)
– Varsity: Under 13–Under 14 (U13–U14)
– Elite Varsity: Under 15–Under 16 (U15–U16)
Key Dates for the 2027 Northern Conference
– 3 November 2026: Nationwide registration for player tryouts opens.
– 28–29 November 2026: Player tryouts at Unity Concord International School, Nong Phueng, Saraphi District, Chiang Mai.

Beyond domestic competition, YBL Thailand also plans to introduce international youth basketball exchange programmes and friendly matches with teams from overseas. These initiatives are designed to broaden young athletes’ experience, encourage cultural exchange and create further opportunities for Thai players to develop their potential on an international stage.
Through the expansion of its regional league structure, YBL Thailand hopes to strengthen grassroots basketball development and provide greater access to organised sporting opportunities for young athletes outside Bangkok.
YBL Thailand invites schools, basketball clubs, coaches, parents and young athletes throughout Northern Thailand to support the initiative and help raise awareness of the opportunities available to aspiring basketball players.
