The headline attraction this year is a 130 metre water tunnel installed along Tha Pae Road, which will be closed to traffic and transformed into a pedestrian water play zone for the duration of the event. Fed by treated municipal water and combined with light and sound effects, the tunnel will be open from 13th to 15th April, running from 6pm to midnight each evening.
Entertainment across the three nights will be headlined by more than 15 DJs from Thailand and abroad, including internationally recognised acts Zan & Goku from Vietnam and Che Molly from Singapore, performing alongside five Thai DJs per night. Local acts will also feature, with Chiang Mai bands SL Music, The Salo and Moonhunter bringing northern folk and cultural performances to the main stage.
Organisers say crowd management, water recycling systems and safety measures have been built into the event’s infrastructure. Further information is available via the Chiang Mai Municipality Facebook page, at www.cmcity.go.th or by calling 053-259000.
