Following the exercise portion of class, we will introduce a topic focused on natural living, specifically for seniors. Topics will range from personal constitution analysis based in Element Theory, to learning how to work with our body’s natural “organ clock,” to using scent and taste as powerful medicines for our physical & mental wellbeing. Vithi, an academic expert in arts, culture and Lanna traditions, will answer these and other questions about animist beliefs and practices in northern Thailand. Aj. Vithi was founder of and professor at the Thai Art Department Faculty of Fine Arts Chiang Mai University and was instrumental in setting up the Lanna House Museum. We will begin with a guided tour of the new Prince Doctor Museum to learn about the role McCormick Hospital played in the medical training of Prince Mahidol.  Graham Jefcoate will then give an illustrated lecture about the American Presbyterian Mission’s medical work from the arrival of Dr James W. McKean in 1889, through the opening of McCormick Hospital under Dr E. C. Cort in 1925, to the outbreak of the Pacific War in 1941. Following a short break at the Mabel Cort Cafe, we will take a guided walk to explore some of the heritage buildings on the McCormick site.
