On the night of 7th August, Chiang Mai Municipality mayor Assanee Buranupakorn assigned deputy mayor Wisaka Panyachuay to observe the project, which brings together several agencies: the Provincial Electricity Authority, the Provincial Waterworks Authority, National Telecom (NT), the NBTC and Chiang Mai Municipality.
Work has started at the Health Park end and will progress towards Rin Kham intersection, running overnight from 8pm to 5am using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to bore tunnels for the underground cables. Small pits are opened for the work each night and resealed with steel plates and asphalt by morning so the road remains usable during the day.
Once the project is finished and the road handed back, the municipality will resurface the affected stretch to improve safety and reduce accident risk for residents.
