The incident occurred on 1st August 2026 at around 12pm, when a group of nine Chinese tourists, including children and elderly members, brushed past a Thai individual, sparking a dispute that escalated into pushing and physical contact before family members intervened to break it up. Both parties then went their separate ways, though the Thai party later filed a police report at Chiang Mai City Police Station.
Tourist police subsequently traced and interviewed the Chinese family seen in the video. They confirmed sustaining minor injuries but said they did not wish to pursue legal action against the other party, and had been unaware the incident was filmed and circulated online until police contacted them. The family cooperated fully with the investigation.
Checks into the tourists’ visa status, following online speculation, confirmed they remained legally permitted to stay in the Kingdom. Police say they will continue reviewing evidence from all parties to ensure a fair outcome under the law.
