Rangers from Sri Lanna National Park apprehended three suspected poachers on 8th May after intercepting their boat on the Mae Ngad Dam in Mae Taeng.

Acting on orders from park chief Anon Kulnil, officers conducting SMART PATROL operations spotted a suspicious vessel moored along the forest bank and set up an ambush. At around 6.30pm the boat headed in the direction of Phrao district, where officers stopped and searched it, finding multiple hunting implements on board.

All three suspects confessed to entering the park to hunt wildlife. Seized items included a longtail boat, a shotgun, an air gun, ammunition, a two-way radio, knives and related equipment. The firearms and ammunition were handed to Mae Taeng Police Station for prosecution, with the park filing additional charges against all three suspects.
