On 12th November 2025, the Royal Gazette published an announcement from the Office of the Prime Minister regarding the appointment.
The announcement stated that His Majesty the King has commanded that Thossaphon Phuean-Udom be relieved from his position as Governor of Chiang Mai Province and appointed as Ministerial Inspector, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, effective from 12th November 2025.

Thossaphon Phuean-Udom served as the 42nd Governor of Chiang Mai Province. He was appointed by the Cabinet and officially assumed office on 5th September 2025. Prior to this role, he had served as Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai and as Ministerial Inspector at the Ministry of Interior.
The new governor appointed to take office is Rattanaphon Naradisorn, who will serve as the new Governor of Chiang Mai, transferring from his previous position as Governor of Chiang Rai. Rattanaphon has previously acted as Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai in 2021.
