Prince Royal’s College signed two international education agreements on Monday 31st August at the 120th Anniversary Cornelia McGilvary Harris Hall, formalising new ties with education bodies in New Zealand.
The first is an Education Cooperation Arrangement with Education New Zealand (ENZ), the New Zealand government’s education agency. The second is a memorandum of understanding with Avondale College, a New Zealand school that won the Ministry of Education’s Excellence in Quality Teaching & Instruction award in 2026. Both agreements are aimed at bringing the school’s STEP (Science and Technology Excellence Program) in line with international standards and building a more direct route between STEP and New Zealand’s own education system.
Under the ENZ arrangement, the two sides plan to set up a Thailand-New Zealand Centre, envisioned as a hub for student exchange, academic activities and wider cooperation between the countries, with scope for further joint projects over time.
The Avondale College MOU gives STEP students a defined academic pathway: NCEA Level 1 and Level 2 study in Thailand, followed by NCEA Level 3 at Avondale College itself. The school says this allows students to graduate with both a Mathayom 6 certificate from Prince Royal’s College and a Year 13 NCEA Level 3 qualification, usable for university applications in Thailand and internationally.
Representatives from four New Zealand universities — Auckland University of Technology, Lincoln University, the University of Otago and Victoria University of Wellington — attended the signing. The school is positioning the partnerships as part of a broader push toward teacher development and clearer, internationally recognised academic pathways for its students.
