Police have stepped up security at a well-known school in Chiang Mai city after a threatening message circulated among students, warning of a shooting at 10am today, the 11th August. The message, posted in an Open Chat group for students, caused alarm among students and parents after it began spreading yesterday.
Mae Ping Police Station responded by deploying patrol officers to the area from yesterday evening, with additional monitoring measures put in place around the school. Officers remain stationed at the school today, maintaining close surveillance and standing ready to respond to any emergency within five minutes.
Police are continuing to trace the origin of the message and assess the situation, and have asked students and parents to rely on information from the school and authorities rather than circulating unverified messages.
As of the latest update, the situation remains normal with no reports of violence at the school. Police and school officials continue to coordinate on security measures to reassure students, teachers, staff and parents.
