A village in Mae Rim is making waves and receiving much love from the public after posting that it was using monsoon detritus, in terms of fallen leaves, to make sustainable kratongs.

The governor of Chiang Mai has now ordered 10,000 of these krathongs, in support, to be used this festival across the city.

In total there are ten designs of these novel krathongs, and each villager can make up to 100 of them each day.

Businesses are betting on board, with Icon Siam also making a bulk order to give away to their customers.
