Songkran 2026 activities in Chiang Mai city, 13th April
Processions
1. 8am — The Mae Ying Riding Bicycles with Parasols procession departs from Buddhasatarn and concludes at Tha Pae Gate.
2. 2.09pm — The Phra Buddha Sihing and Sacred Buddha Images procession forms at Nawarat Bridge and proceeds along Tha Pae Road to Ratchadamnoen Road.
Water celebrations
1. 8.30–10am — Opening ceremony of “Sard Suk, Sanuk Sud Sai @ Ton Yang” on Chiang Mai–Lamphun Road, organised by Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organisation. Temporary road closures will be in effect; detour routes as per attached map.
2. From 3pm — Songkran celebrations at Central Festival Chiang Mai, held within the mall grounds. Traffic officers will be on duty at entry and exit points.
3. 5–midnight — World Songkran Tha Pae 2026 on Tha Pae Road. Road closure from Wat Saen Fang intersection to Tha Pae.
4. 6pm–midnight — Songkran celebrations at Maya Mall, One Nimman and Think Park. Traffic management routes as per attached map.
5. Water play along Chiang Mai’s moat.
6. At Nong Hoi intersection, if traffic on the Chiang Mai–Lamphun Road side is heavy, a temporary roundabout will be introduced to manage flow.
