Tokyo Siam serves up mini Tokyo pancake rolls from Chiang Mai 89 Plaza and they are drawing in the crowds with their smorgasbord of fillings which cover sweet and savoury favourites as well as some unique new filling recipes.
Follow the scent and you will soon be offered a plethora of rolls with prices starting from a very sensible 18 baht each.
You can order classic sweet rolls such as the pandan and foi thong sweet fillings, the cream cheese with fruit jams fillings or a classic crumble filling. Or you can go savoury and try the minced pork fried in special home made sauce or the chicken sausage or quail’s egg fillings.
The highlight rolls include the newly presented Siam Specials and Tokyo Specials rolls which change every three months, with the current Tokyo Specials rolls being filled with crab sticks and wasabi mayo, salmon and cream cheese and arabica pork sausages on top of tonkatsu and seaweed for a supreme bite of umami.
The Siam Specials highlight currently serves up quail egg and basil stir fried filling, hung-le and Brie cheese with quail egg filling and Lanna Paradiso which is a filling of sai-ua spicy sausage, fried shallots and mozzarella cheese.
They also serve up sweet buns and various toast options and are open from morning until night.
Not for the food purists, but definitely one to check out for those with a more adventurous and playful palate!
