From September 30, 2026, a new regulation comes into force: to work through electronic platforms, drivers need a Public Driver’s License (PDL). Platforms will be required to restrict access to orders for those who do not have a valid PDL.
To support drivers in transitioning into the regulated transport system and help raise service standards, Maxim Thailand and the Chiang Mai Provincial Land Transport Office, Branch 2, jointly organized the “MAXIM Fast Track” program on September 27, 2026, at the Chiang Mai Provincial Land Transport Office, Branch 2. The initiative was designed to facilitate Maxim driver-partners in preparing for and completing the required process to obtain a Public Driving Licence.
The event took place from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with officials from the Chiang Mai Provincial Land Transport Office providing guidance on the requirements and procedures for obtaining a Public Driving Licence. The program covered key steps required for compliance, including driver training, a written examination, physical fitness assessment, criminal background checks, and other procedures related to licence issuance.
The initiative enabled driver-partners to complete the required procedures as efficiently as possible within a single day. Drivers who successfully completed the training and required assessments and had all necessary documents in place were able to receive their Public Driving Licence and yellow registration plate on the same day. They could then upload the required documents to the Maxim platform for verification and, once approved, resume accepting ride requests in compliance with applicable regulations.
