A hostel owner in the Sri Phum area inside the old city moat has warned others after a man allegedly entered her property and stayed overnight without permission, even cooking meals in the kitchen.

CCTV showed the man, believed to be around 50 years old, carrying a backpack and bag, walking around the property at around 9pm on 23rd February. He returned at about 6am the next day and entered the house, which had been left unlocked, before later making himself at home inside.

The incident was discovered on the afternoon of 24th February 2026 when a legitimate guest arrived and found the man sleeping on the sofa. The shocked guest immediately contacted the owner, who then sent the housekeeper to check.

The man claimed he had attended a concert and was told by a foreigner he could use the room, but the owner confirmed no booking had been made. He offered to pay 1,000 baht and left, saying he would withdraw cash, but never returned.

The owner later reviewed CCTV and saw the man freely entering and living in the property, including cooking food. After posting the incident online, she learned he had allegedly done the same at other locations before. A police report has now been filed.

Reporters also found the same man had previously been arrested in May 2025 after illegally staying in a commercial building in the Nimmanhaemin area, serving several months in jail before allegedly reoffending.
