Retail shops and markets around Chiang Mai are busy again, packed with shoppers making sure they use up their “Thai Chuay Thai Plus” benefits before the scheme closes out at the end of September. People have been steadily filing in all day, most of them grabbing the everyday household basics the program is meant to help cover.
The rush has been enough to snarl traffic near shopping areas at various points during the day, with shoppers keen not to let any of their free allowance go to waste.
Talking to shoppers and vendors, most said the same thing: they’re hoping the government extends the program a while longer, given how tight things still are for a lot of households right now.
Officially, though, the “Thai Chuay Thai Plus” budget runs out on September 30, 2026. Anyone still holding credits can check their remaining balance and plan out what’s left before the deadline hits.
