The Government of Japan has approved support for the Ban Kad Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) in Mae Wang District, Chiang Mai Province, to procure an emergency rescue vehicle under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects, also known as the KUSANONE Grant Program. The signing ceremony of the grant agreement was held on 20 August 2026 at the Consulate-General of Japan in Chiang Mai, with Mr. Masaru Harada, Consul-General of Japan in Chiang Mai, and Mr. Arun Boonruang, President of the Ban Kad Subdistrict Administrative Organization, signing the agreement.
The Ban Kad Subdistrict Administrative Organization is located in an elevated area approximately 30 kilometers southwest of Chiang Mai city and has a population of approximately 2,500 people. Currently, the organization provides emergency patient transportation and facilitates access to hospitals for residents in Ban Kad and nearby areas using its existing rescue vehicle. In addition, Ban Kad is located along a major route to Doi Inthanon, a renowned tourist destination with a high volume of traffic, where road accidents frequently occur. The area is also entering an aging society, resulting in an increasing number of elderly people and bedridden patients who require transportation to hospitals.

However, the organization currently has only one rescue vehicle, which has deteriorated significantly due to prolonged use and is approaching the end of its service life in accordance with standards set by the Thai government. The procurement of a new emergency rescue vehicle is therefore an urgent necessity.
In response to these circumstances, the Government of Japan has decided to provide a grant of THB 2,510,000 to the Ban Kad Subdistrict Administrative Organization for the procurement of an emergency rescue vehicle equipped with medical equipment. The Government of Japan sincerely hopes that this assistance will enable residents of Ban Kad and surrounding areas to receive safer, more reliable, and more efficient emergency medical services.
The Government of Japan remains committed to supporting economic and social development in the region through the KUSANONE Grant Program.
